Intraoperative endoscopy

Real-time endoscopic control

Intraoperative endoscopy is a “real-time” check inside the operating theatre: a flexible endoscope is inserted during surgery to view the inside of the stomach and junctions, thereby detecting and immediately correcting leaks, strictures or bleeding, which is especially useful in revision surgeries, where the anatomy is altered by previous surgery.

Benefits of endoscopic monitoring

Pneumatic leak test

Confirm the airtightness of the staple lines / anastomoses

Prevention of stenosis

Identify angulations or narrowing in the new anatomy

Active bleeding control

Help locate and treat intraluminal bleeding

Reservoir calibration

Ensure the appropriate reservoir size for better tolerance

Dr. Dick Manrique performs laparoscopic bariatric surgery alongside intraoperative endoscopy to immediately detect and correct potential problems, thereby reducing complications.
